El Paso is the only major Texas city on Mountain Time and in 2017, reported a population of 844,818(1).
Safety is a Priority
In 2010 and 2018, El Paso received an All-America City Award and also ranked in the top three safest large cities in the United States between 1997 and 2014(2), holding the title of safest city between 2011 and 2014.(3)

What to Do in The Sun City
With the sun shining 300 days out of the year, it’s no wonder why several activities and attractions make it to The Sun City. Throughout the year, you can enjoy indoor and outdoor events, concerts and festivals such as the Neon Desert Music Festival, Way Out West Country Festival, Ft. Bliss Concert Series, and Cool Nights at the Canyon (McKelligon Canyon).
In addition, El Paso is home to several sports teams and events such as

- The El Paso Rhinos (Hockey),
- The El Paso Chihuahuas (Triple-A Baseball),
- The El Paso Locomotive FC (Soccer),

- The Sunland Park Race Track and Casino (Horse Racing).
El Paso also has corporate entertainment chains such as Top Golf and IFly Zone for the family to enjoy. Throughout the year, many out goers enjoy the various hiking and mountain biking trails in the beautiful Franklin Mountains, animal watching at the El Paso Zoo or outdoor fun at Wet and Wild WaterWorld (Waterpark).
New Mexico
If adventure is your thing and you just want to get away from the city life to the great outdoors, then you will be happy to know that El Paso is conveniently located 2 hours away from these types of activities. Our sister state (New Mexico) is packed with summer and winter activities for the whole family. You can enjoy ATV riding, camping, snow skiing, snowboarding, water skiing, boating, hunting, fishing, concerts, natural springs, shopping, home style food, and local festivals.

Public Transportation
Don’t have a car? No problem! The Sun Metro is El Paso’s public transportation provider that consists of buses and paratransit services. The Sun Metro has routes starting as early as 5am into the evening giving you the opportunity to take advantage of our flexible schedules.
